U.S. Customs and Border protection officers in Texas intercepted more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana, hidden in a shipment of fresh carrots.
Officers assigned to the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge Cargo Facility encountered the trailer on Jan. 10.
When officers inspected the vehicle, agents discovered packages of suspected narcotics hidden among the vegetables.
The carrot-shaped packages of alleged marijuana carry an estimated street value of about $500,000.
The case is currently under investigation by agents with Homeland Security Investigations.
