INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says five people, including three children, have been wounded in a shooting inside a townhome on the city's northwest side.

Police responded to the incident just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lt. Richard Riddle says police are searching for three male suspects who were inside the home when the shooting occurred. He says another man, who was not hit by the gunfire, witnessed the shooting.

Riddle says two women and three children, ages 6, 3 and 6 months, were shot. All five were hospitalized in serious condition. The relationship between the victims wasn't immediately clear.

Riddle says there was no sign of forced entry into the house, and police believe at least one person inside knew the suspects.

No arrests had been made early Monday morning.
