Viral video shows two teens burning dog with lighter and aerosol can, deputies say

Two teens have been charged with animal cruelty after a viral video surfaced on social media showing the teens using an aerosol can and lighter to ignite a flame towards a dog, burning it.

According to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, they quickly became aware of the viral video that was posted over the weekend and identified the 13-year-old and 14-year-old shown burning the dog in the video. Due to the individuals being juveniles their names were withheld.

Animal Services was promptly notified and responded to provided medical treatment to the injured animal. The dog had minimal injuries and was placed in Animal Control custody before being placed with a rescue organization.

The dog is not available for adoption at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.

Animal cruelty charges have been filed with the Juvenile Justice system against the two juveniles.
