(KSNV, NBC NEWSCHANNEL) The Transportation Security Administration reports that a printed firearm created from a 3D printer was confiscated from a carry-on bag last week at Nevada's Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
The revolver was described by the TSA as a "realistic" replica. It was loaded with live ammunition.
According to the TSA blog, the firearm was one of 68 firearms discovered in carry-on bags last week.
TSA says passengers can travel with firearms in checked baggage, but they must first be declared to the airline. However, TSA says it is never permissible to pack ammo in a carry-on bag.
