This could be the world’s first pair of fish braces. Let that thought run over your gills for a minute.
A goldfish, free from the fair, just got a pair of fish braces.
Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology in Pennsylvania posted it on their Facebook page, and it’s gone viral -- maybe because the fish’s name, is Mr. Hot Wing.
The vet’s office explains Mr. Hot Wing "was born without a lower jawbone, and couldn’t keep his mouth open," which made it hard to eat and breathe.
After some research, Brian Palmeiro, known as the “fish doctor,” came up with a set of custom braces he crafted from a plastic credit card.
The surgery cost about $150 and left social media smiling with the results. The post has been shared close to 300 times.
For comparison’s sake, $150 is pretty cheap compared to the $750 a woman in Scotland spent to save her two pet goldfish last March.
