We've all noticed the difference. But does it matter that much?
A new study from Binghamton University confirms that text messages ending with a period are perceived as less sincere than those without periods.
"Texting is lacking many of the social cues used in actual face-to-face conversations. When speaking, people easily convey social and emotional information with eye gaze, facial expressions, tone of voice, pauses, and so on," said head researcher Celia Klin.
The study found however, that this effect was not present in handwritten notes.
