A Santa impersonator in Tennessee granted a final wish to a terminally ill child.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that the impersonator, Eric Schmitt-Matzen, received a call from a nurse at a children's hospital saying that there was a 5-year-old who wanted to see Santa.

She said there was no time for him to get into his full outfit, and he needed to come quickly because the child did not have much longer to live

When he arrived, Schmitt-Matzen told the child that there was no way he can miss Christmas because he was Santa's No. 1 elf.

Schmitt-Matzen gave the little boy a hug, and the child passed away in his arms.

The report said that the Santa impersonator, "cried all the way home ... so hard, I had a tough time seeing good enough to drive."
