Wednesday is "National Missing Children's Day," which was first proclaimed in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan.
According to CNN, nearly 800,000 kids are reported missing every year.
A little less than half of that number are abducted by family members. About 58,000 of that total are taken by non-relatives.
To spread awareness, the social media campaign #RockOneSock began recently, which prompts people to post pictures of them wearing just one sock.
Each year, the Department of Justice commemorates Missing Children’s Day with a ceremony honoring the agencies, organizations and individuals devoted to protecting children.
