(NBC) - The Christmas rush is on as busy shoppers try to get their packages delivered on time.
Many major retailers are participating in Free Shipping Day on Friday, Dec. 14.
It's one of the last chances for retailers to guarantee arrival to your doorstep by Christmas Eve.
The day was created more than a decade ago when some retailers collaborated to offer free shipping.
Amazon has extended its free standard shipping offer until Dec. 18. There's no minimum purchase required.
About 1,000 retailers are expected to participate this year.
Keep in mind, various retailers will often have some exclusions, including with large items, personalized items or items that are out of stock.
