HOLUALOA, HI--- A farmer in Hawaii may have harvested the world's heaviest avocado on record.

The farmer has actually been growing massive specimens for a long time.

A local doctor says for years the farmer has been dropping bags of them off at an urgent care clinic.

The doctor finally decided to see what the record was.

She discovered one of the farmer's avocado's weighed upwards of six pounds -- more than enough to break the Guinness world record.

According to the doctor, Guinness still had to verify the record. That takes up 12 weeks, so the doctor called in the media to document the massive avocado.

"We didn't think nothing of it, we just pick and eat it," said avocado farmer Kenji Fukumitsu.

He was asked why they are so big. His answer: "That, I don't know."

He says his avocado tree was grafted by his oldest brother in the early 1940s.
