(CNN NEWSOURCE) Comedy Central is pulling the plug on “The Nightly Show” with Larry Wilmore due to low viewership.
Production will end Thursday.
It comes a year and a half after the show replaced “The Colbert Report,” which ended its run when Stephen Colbert moved to fill David Letterman's shoes on CBS' “The Late Show.”
In a statement, Wilmore thanked the network, Jon Stewart and the fans, but said he's saddened and surprised he won't be covering what he called "this crazy election."
There's no word yet on what will replace the show.
