NARRAGANSETT, R.I. — A woman in Rhode Island had a very close call with a black bear on Tuesday afternoon.

Narragansett Animal Control posted pictures on its Facebook page showing the large animal standing next to a car's passenger side window at Camp Varnum.

Animal control officers said the bear actually opened a woman's car door. She fought back to shut it and secured herself inside the vehicle.

The bear went on its way, but animal control said this is a good reminder to keep your distance from these wild animals.
