The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is concerned about phony text messages being sent to students.
Some youngsters at Martin County High School have reportedly received texts urging them to contact a detective or other officials to be questioned about a crime tip.
The sheriff's office said it will never directly contact a student via text for any purpose.
Officials are telling parents if their child receives a similar text to ignore it.
Investigators are trying to track down the source of the texts.
