Study: Yoga can help breast cancer survivors feel better

(NBC News) Yoga is known to help relax, strengthen and recharge.

Now a new study shows it can also help breast cancer survivors feel better after what can be grueling treatments.

The study from Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center suggests relief may be found in the calming environment of a yoga class.

In her study Dr. Janice Kiecolt-Glaser found yoga, practiced twice a week for three months, reduced patient fatigue by more than half.

Blood samples also revealed lowered levels of inflammation, which may translate into measurable health benefits.

"We know high inflammation is associated with cardiovascular disease, with osteoporosis, with Type 2 diabetes, with frailty and functional decline," Dr. Kiecolt-Glaser points out.
