With just a few days before the new school year begins, doctors say now is the time to start adjusting the time students fall asleep and get up in the morning.

Dr. Celina Moore, a pediatrician at West Boca Medical Center, said this is especially true for high school students.

"It takes several days for your body to accumulate to a new bed times and new wake up times, and if you would like to do a more gentler approach, you can be moving up the bed time by 20 minutes every night before, so it wouldn't' be quite a shock to the system," said Moore.

Parents should also make sure their children are up to date on their vaccinations before the school year starts.
