(NBC) - A promising new treatment could help people with peanut allergies.
Researchers say giving people small amounts of peanut powder each day can desensitize them to nuts over time.
Two-thirds of patients who underwent this treatment were able to tolerate the equivalent of two peanuts per day after one year.
That means they would be protected from a severe reaction if they accidentally ate or were exposed to something with peanuts.
The FDA is expected to approve the treatment late next year.
