Consumer advocates say it's time to talk benefits with your credit card company.
Many are dropping perks. Discover is doing away with extended warranties, return guarantees and car rental insurance, while Chase is dropping price protection.
Consumer Reports' Margot Gilman says many, if not most, credit card users aren't taking full advantage of perks or benefits because they just don't know about them.
One overlooked, underused perk she points out is trip insurance.
"So if you book a trip and then something happens that is not outside of the excluded reasons, you can have some amount of the trip refunded back to you," she explains.
There's also price protection, where you get money back if something you buy later goes on sale.
All of it adding up to actual cash that your credit card offers, just by asking.
