Uber is rolling out upfront fares for UberX rides.
Instead of providing an estimate of your fare, you'll get the exact price before requesting the ride.
UberPOOL has utilized this feature.
Pool rides make up twenty percent of all rides.
The change might make surge pricing more difficult to understand. Instead of showing the multiplier or lightning bolt, it will just show the higher fare. It will let you know that fares are higher, though.
Uber has been testing the model in select cities for the past few months.
Uber will also be rolling out the ability to schedule rides in advance. That roll-out is expected in the near future.
