(CNN NEWSOURCE/Heritage Auctions) A coin collector has paid nearly $2 million for an old dime.
The 1894-S Barber is one of the rarest in the world.
It was auctioned off in Tampa on Thursday.
According to Heritage Auctions, the San Francisco mint made about 2-point-5 million of the dimes in 1983, but only 24 were minted in 1894 and fewer than 10 are still known to exist.
The buyer is choosing to remain anonymous.
