(NBC) Subway's most iconic deal just got a little more expensive.
The company says starting Feb. 4 the price of its $5 classic footlong sub increases to $6.
Subway made the announcement as part of its "Sub-Maggedon" promotional campaign.
The company says an increase in the cost of ingredients made the price increase necessary.
The sandwich chain launched the $5 footlong in 2007.
The footlong deal has traditionally taken place in February, though over the years the deal has been offered other times of the year as well.
No word yet on what will happen to Subway's infamous $5 footlong jingle.
