A new study found that drivers aren’t ready to take a backseat to self-driving cars.

A new AAA survey reveals that only 12 percent would trust riding in a self-driving car. Even more Americans at 18 percent don’t know how they feel about the technology.

What questions did they have? Six in ten Americans say they would like to have a clear understanding of who will be legally responsible in the event of a crash with a self-driving vehicle. Half of those interview are interested about laws to make sure self-driving cars are safe and want to know how vulnerable they will be to hackers.

What would help Americans feel safer about riding in self-driving cars? Seven in ten said if they had the ability to take over control if something goes wrong, then they would feel more comfortable.
