(CNN NEWSOURCE) Good news: Prices at the pump will be at their lowest in years when you're ready to hit the road this summer.
A government forecast says the price for a gallon of gas should average $2.27 for the April through September summer driving season.
That's down 13% from last summer, and the lowest pump prices have been in 12 years.
It's also lower than the current national average for gas, which stands at $2.36 a gallon.
Gas prices tend to be higher during the summer due to consumer demand, as well as the use of a more expensive gas blend for environmental reasons.
