Being enshrined in any hall of fame is a major achievement but being inducted as part of the inaugural class signifies legendary greatness.
Which video games will be the Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb of their medium?
On Thursday, the World Video Game Hall of Fame, located at The Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, will announce its first group of inductees. The honor is reserved for electronic games of any kind "that have enjoyed popularity over a sustained period and have exerted influence on the video game industry or on popular culture and society in general," according to the museum's website.
The class will be selected by a panel of video game journalists, scholars and experts. The first group will be chosen from a pool of 15 finalists that were previously announced. The pool includes classic games like "Super Mario Bros." and "Pong," as well as modern favorites "World of Warcraft" and "Angry Birds."
Which games would you vote to include in the Hall of Fame? Rank your three favorites from the list of finalists below.
