RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. -- A local family is waiting for any information leading to the return of their stolen dog.
The thief was caught on surveillance video. It's grainy but a man can be seen walking up to Nick and Lori Cleary's Black Chevrolet Tahoe while it was parked on the 300 block of West 11 Street. The individual walks out of frame then returns to the SUV, closes the hatchback and takes off with Sahara the family dog inside.
Sahara is 11-years-old. She recently had surgery on her leg and cannot walk.
The Cleary's filed a criminal report with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control who plans to work with police if Sahara is turned in.
"It depends how it comes in," explained Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control Captain David Walesky. "If it comes in with any additional information we will certainly relay that to the authorities. But a lot of times they just show up here."
If anyone thinks they've seen Sahara they are urged to call the Riviera Beach Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477).
