Posted

PALM BECAH COUNTY, Fla. – It was a frantic moment. About a year ago Matt Baker suffered a heart attack and struggled to breath. His wife Abby called 911.

Palm Beach County 911 dispatcher Stephen Sabo was Abby’s lifeline. Keeping Abby calm. Walking her through the life-saving steps, until fire medics arrived.

Abby believes the 911 dispatcher saved Matt's life. Abby and Matt met the voice on the other end of the phone Friday.

“Looking back you came, you were there,” Abby shared with Sabo. “You weren't with us physically, but you were the person in the room.”

“It is a team effort it just wasn't me," Sabo modestly explained. "I just happened to be the one who picked up the phone.”

To the Bakers, Sabo is more than just a person who picked answered a phone call, he’s a lifesaver.

The Bakers also maintain a blog in recognition of the fire medics who have made a profound difference in their family's life.
