HBO officials say its signature program will return on April 14, releasing a new teaser on Sunday night.
There are only six episodes, but some of the installments of the final season are expected to go more than an hour.
The finale of the seventh season in August 2017 broke a record of 16.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
The show, based on author George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series, is expected to end on May 19.
