BOCA RATON, Fla. — A deadly crash on Interstate 95 southbound early Monday caused significant delays on the highway for morning commuters.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported a fatal crash that occurred on I-95 South at the Broward County line, mile marker 42, at around 2:45 a.m.
FHP shut down the on-ramp to I-95 South at Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton for over five hours. The ramp is now open.

According to FHP, a Toyota Corolla was parked on the outside lane of I-95 South, facing east, after being involved in a previous crash and waiting on law enforcement.
The driver was standing on the highway within the outside lane when a Mercedes van driving down I-95 South failed to see the stopped car and hit the Corolla, which then hit the driver.
The driver of the Corolla, a 62-year-old from Miami, did not survive the impact.
