ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly crash closed lanes for several hours on Florida's Turnpike South in St. Lucie County Friday morning.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash was first reported at around 8:40 p.m. Thursday and happened near the entrance ramp of the Turnpike from Okeechobee Road in Port St. Lucie. Traffic cameras showed the incident involved a box truck.
A 62-year-old man driving a pickup truck southbound on the Turnpike's entrance ramp from Okeechobee Road collided head-on with a 37-year-old man driving a box truck going northbound on the southbound ramp.

Captain Satchelle Peterkin pronounced the 62-year-old man dead at the scene, FHP said.
At 2 a.m. Friday the southbound exit to Okeechobee Road and both entrance ramps from Okeechobee Road were closed.
Lanes were closed for hours, backing up traffic for over 2 miles, however, cars were to able to pass on the shoulder.
