SURFCAST DISCUSSION
Humberto and Future Imelda are sitting off to our southeast. Humberto is by far be the biggest and strongest, it topped out at a cat 5 160mph storm on Friday. Now it's expected to gradually weaken but expand in size as it hooks around Bermuda. On its own this would send a good solid swell. On top of that we will have whatever Imelda brings, so it could be doubled up at times and kinda funky, we shall see how it plays out, it's not often this happens.
This is still a very complicated and dynamic situation but it looks like models are finally honing in on a solution. Humberto will pave to way (by breaking down the western edge of the Bermuda high) for Imelda to make a sharp right hand turn and pull away from the U.S. WIth it turning so quickly and sharply not, and not getting north toward the carolinas, this changes a few things for us. Now it looks like the winds will swing around onshore quicker, like Wednesday afternoon. We should still see a big pulse of long period energy at the end of the week, but it will be met with onshore winds.
The first part of the swell will be best, especially since the swell will be from nearby Imelda so the period won't be that long, which means less closeouts and more A-frame barreling waves. (at least for PBC.) Wind will be a little slower to turn offshore north of Palm Beach through the Treasure Coast though, more like Monday afternoon there. South of there wind will turn offshore early and clean it up.
DAILY SURFCAST SPECIFICS:
MONDAY29: Chest-head high swell wrapping around the northern Bahamas as the storm clears the northern Bahamas. Possibility a barrelfest with shorter period/max power. Upcoast will definitely be overhead but wind will take a while to turn. Small the farther south you go but some could punch all the way south to Miami at some point. Clean but breezy wind straight offshore all day. Wind West 20-30kts.
TUESDAY30: Hurricane groundswell continues, Chest-head to overhead high+ PBC, well overhead upcoast. A new pulse may build in late in the day which may reach all the way down to Miami. Wind remains offshore and conditions will be clean but may turn a bit sideshore in the afternoon. Biggest upcoast, tapering off as you head south. Wind West 10-20kts.
WEDNESDAY01: Chest-shoulder-head high swell but fading some. Clean early for PBC with NW winds but wind getting on it from the Treasure Coast northward, then wind getting on it PBC south in the afternoon.
THURSDAY02-FRIDAY: A good chance the wind will be getting on it and wrecking it. A bigger, longer period pulse will be pushing in, so it'll be big and gnarly out there.
Weekend: Swell backs off, wind stays on it but may back off some, waves continue, Local winds could change for the better still so stay tuned.

LONG RANGER SURFCAST
Imelda may be the gift that keeps on giving, that combined with a couple cold fronts will keep the streak of rideable waves going for a while. There could be other tropical systems also. This is the pulse of tropical activity I've been talking about...should continue into October.
