SAN ANDRES, Colombia — Dramatic scenes were recorded on the island of San Andres in the Caribbean Sea as Hurricane Iota slammed Central America on Monday night.
Video shows a huge wave crash against the shore of the Colombian island as Iota churned through the region.
The storm collided with northeastern Nicaragua overnight, packing maximum sustained winds of 155 mph.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said earlier it reached Category 5 status but weakened slightly before landfall.
Central America and southern Mexico are still reeling from Hurricane Eta, which devastated crops and washed away hillsides two weeks ago, killing dozens.
Many towns are still partially flooded, and the land is already waterlogged from the earlier storm.
