Several whales beached themselves Monday on a Pinellas County beach.
A number of agencies responded to Redington Beach to help the mammals in distress.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said it appears five distressed whales beached themselves.
The sheriff's office did not identify what type of whales they are. However, deputies are working with FWC and Clearwater Marine Aquarium biologists.
Aerial footage from a TV news helicopter showed tents erected over the whales to block the sun.
Several bystanders could be seen gathering on the beach.
