BIG PINE KEY, Fla. -- A Mississippi man is facing attempted murder charges after opening fire on three men from West Palm Beach in the Florida Keys.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office (MSCO) says 60-year-old Ricky Neil Orallo from Biloxi, Mississippi, was staying with his girlfriend in a duplex on Big Pine Key in the Florida Keys on Monday night.

Four men from West Palm Beach were temporary tenants in the duplex next to Orallo. The men are construction workers and were in the Keys for a job.

According to MCSO, the men were approached by Orallo, who was very intoxicated. They spoke with him for a moment and went across the street to the No Name Pub for dinner.

They returned from dinner to find Orallo sitting in one of the men's Chevrolet Tahoe, looking through the center console.

The men say they just met Orallo earlier and did not give him permission to be inside the vehicle.

According to the men, Orallo got in and out of the SUV several times, but was so intoxicated that he fell several times. The men stated the confrontation was never physical. Orallo then went inside his side of the duplex.

According to the sheriff's office, Orallo returned about 10 minutes later holding a pistol and began firing at three of the men who were standing near another work vehicle, a Dodge Ram 3500 truck, that belonged to one of the men.

Orallo reportedly fired five shots, striking the SUV and the Dodge truck, shattering a window.

One of the bullets went through a baseball cap that one of the men was wearing, narrowly missing his head.

Detectives recovered five 9mm bullet casings at the scene.

Orallo's girlfriend, who detectives say also appeared to be intoxicated, said she noticed her Glock handgun was missing from the nightstand in their bedroom and confronted Orallo about it.

She stated he went outside and she heard a loud "pow," then Orallo returned and stated he was probably going to jail.

The gun was not found. A Key West police K-9 unit responded and the K-9 alerted to the canal behind the duplex. The Sheriff's Office Dive Team are searching for the gun in the canal.

Ricky Neil Orallo is facing three felony counts of attempted murder.
