A teen girl was able to stab a Dania Beach gas station clerk who was sexually assaulting her, authorities said.

The 17-year-old had gone to the Chevron station at 4051 Stirling Road on April 7, where she asked 67-year-old clerk Mohammad Abdur Munshi if she could use the restroom, a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report said.

The report said Munshi locked the front door to the store, secured the cashier booth and then entered the bathroom with his pants zipper down and belt unbuckled. Inside the bathroom, he grabbed the teen, and when she pushed him away, he pulled out a knife, the report said.

After a brief struggle, the girl was able to take the knife from Munshi and stab him on the side of his stomach, the report said. The girl fled the scene but didn't immediately report the incident due to her immigration status, the report said. Munshi later went to a hospital for treatment for his wound.

According to the report, Munshi told investigators he went in the bathroom because he believed the teen had shoplifted. But Munshi's accounts were inconsistent and didn't match the surveillance footage of the incident, the report said.

Munshi was arrested on Wednesday on a sexual assault with a weapon charge. He was booked into jail, and attorney information was unavailable.
