TAMPA-- The city of Tampa is testing green dye ahead of its St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

The city started dyeing the Hillsborough River green ahead of what is considered one of the best St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the country.

Tampa ranked the fifth best city in the country for St. Patrick's Day according to WalletHub.

According to the personal finance site Tampa is tied for first place with New York City for the number of Irish bars per capita. Also factoring into the ranking - the price of beer and the city's weather.

And don't worry, the Tampa downtown partnership says the dye being used is totally safe for humans and the wildlife. The dye is used in foods and certain types of surgery.
