TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Police Department released its final investigative report Tuesday about a deadly shooting at a yoga studio in November that claimed the lives of two women.
Police Chief Michael DeLeo said 40-year-old Scott Paul Beierle posed as a customer when he walked into Hot Yoga Tallahassee on Nov. 2 and opened fire. Beierle eventually took his own life.
Chief DeLeo said Tuesday that Beierle had a history of sexual misconduct, and based on his Internet searches, he had been planned to target the yoga studio for months. It's unclear, however, why Beierle chose that specific studio.
The victims were identified as 21-year-old Maura Binkley, a student at Florida State University, and 61-year-old Nancy Van Vessem, a faculty member.
Chief DeLeo said there's no evidence to suggest Beierle knew the victims.
