(NBC 6, NBC NEWSCHANNEL) A school's out party for teens was canceled after parents and officials realized teens would be celebrating at one of South Florida's largest strip clubs.

The promoter says he's scrambling to find a new location after hundreds of tickets were sold for a party at the King of Diamonds adult entertainment complex.

State Representative Barbara Watson said she went to the club to see what was going on.

She was told strippers would be there, but they would be dressed appropriately for mingling with children and poles would be removed.

She says Miami-Dade County rules require minors be kept more than a thousand feet away from adult entertainment so she moved to put an end to it.

Now the strip club owner has agreed not to host the teen bash.

The promoter says he picked the venue for its size, advertised the party on social media and sold tickets to teens as far away as Jacksonville.
