DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Police say a toddler was killed in a hit-and-run crash in a central Florida parking lot.
Daytona Beach police Chief Craig Capri says they're searching for 29-year-old Earnest Ponder who was last seen running from the scene on Thursday night.
Capri tells news outlets it appears the driver backed into the child, who was about 22-months-old. Police haven't released the name of the child and there were few details about what happened.
Police say Ponder goes by the nickname "Boss."
Volusia County court records show Ponder has been arrested 12 times since 2002, most recently in February when he was charged with possession of cocaine and resisting arrest.
