SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — Police have arrested a 28-year-old man after they say he killed a Sanford woman and stayed in her apartment with the body for two days.

Sanford police detective Ronny Neal told news outlets Wednesday that authorities arrested 28-year-old Jimmie Elliot on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the slaying. They also arrested his brother, 23-year-old Jeremiah Elliott, who was also found in the apartment.

According to an arrest affidavit, Jimmie Elliott said he met the victim, 28-year-old Latrice Randolph, several weeks ago and was living with her. He told officials he killed Randolph on Sunday after an argument.

Officials say Randolph was stabbed several times. She was found in a closet underneath bedsheets.

The investigation began after Randolph's mother became concerned about her daughter's well-being.

It's unclear if the suspects have attorneys.
