(WESH/NBC) Officials said despite clear and calm skies, something went awry Sunday with a gliding activity near the Small Sheets Airfield in Central Florida.
One person died as a result of the accident, which happened at around 2 p.m. in Groveland, Fla.
Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board said a tow rope broke while the glider was in flight, causing it to crash.
When first responders arrived at the site, they found the victim suffering from a heart attack and where unable to revive them.
This is the second deadly accident that has happened at the quest air hang gliding flight center.
Investigators said a similar accident killed a hang glider in 2013.
