MIAMI (AP) -- Authorities say seven people, including a police officer and three firefighters, have fallen ill from the effects of unknown fumes at a home southwest of Miami.
Local news outlets report police and fire rescue crews were called to the home early Thursday morning after a family of three were affected by the fumes.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Felipe Lay tells news outlets the first responders were "overcome with a little bit of shortness of breath and weakness." Everyone is expected to be OK.
They, along with two adults and a teenager who live at the home, were taken to a hospital. Two dogs were also pulled from the home and were checked at the scene.
A hazmat team was called and an investigation continues.
