PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) -- Police say a Miami-Dade corrections officer was fatally shot inside his Pembroke Pines apartment.
Barbara Drummond tells the Sun Sentinel she went to check on her son after he didn't show up for his shift on Friday afternoon. She found 40-year-old Cpl. Daveon Hall dead on the living room floor.
Investigators have classified the death as a homicide, but have released few details.
Drummond worked for Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department since 2000. Agency spokeswoman Janelle Hall says he was a supervisor for the department. The agency is cooperating with the police in the investigation.
Hall's death remains under investigation.
