PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Gov. Ron Desantis talked about his vision for Florida after being sworn into office Tuesday in Tallahassee.
He said, “The water is part and parcel of Florida’s DNA.”

People on the Treasure Coast and Florida’s Gulf Coast will remember that pledge after a summer and early fall that became a huge environmental and economic nightmare.
“We will fight toxic blue green algae. We will fight discharges from Lake Okeechobee,” DeSantis said.
It’s a fight that has been waged for years, one that means weighing coastal and farming interests, environmental benefits and economic costs.
Now, new promises and fresh scrutiny of the newest Florida governor to make them.
