OCALA, Fla. (AP) -- Former Florida Lt. Gov. James H. Williams has died at age 90.
Jim Williams III told the Ocala Star-Banner that his father died Friday. The elder Williams was lieutenant governor during Gov. Reubin Askew's second term from 1975 to 1979. Williams ran for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 1978, but lost to future Gov. Bob Graham.
Williams served in the state Senate from 1968 to 1974. Williams worked as a famer and was a deputy U.S. secretary of agriculture from 1979 to 1981.
