TAMPA, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says the coronavirus pandemic has drastically changed the ways that businesses operate.

During a business roundtable discussion at Port Tampa Bay on Thursday, the governor said he expects companies to continue offering remote working for employees even after the pandemic ends.

"I think part of what we've seen with more remote working is something that is going to be with us in some form or another in terms of how businesses operate," DeSantis said.

The governor said Florida's current coronavirus statistics are painting a more "positive picture" compared to the end of June.

"We are seeing fewer number of cases, lower rate of positivity," DeSantis said.

According to the latest numbers from the Florida Department of Health, there are 611,991 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 10,868 coronavirus-related deaths in the state.
