MARATHON, Fla. (AP) — A 13-year-old girl is accused of threatening to shoot her teacher at a Florida Keys middle school.
Monroe County Sheriff's spokesman Adam Linhardt says the girl was arrested on Thursday and charged with interfering with school functions.
Linhardt says the teacher told school resource Officer Timothy Tedesco that she had asked the girl to move her chair and the girl responded that she was "gonna get a gun" and "bust a cap" in her.
The student was removed from class and her bag was searched. A gun wasn't found.
Deputies went to her home, where they also found no weapon.
Linhardt says the Department of Juvenile Justice released the girl to her parents after giving her a court date.
