FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a man they say broke into a Florida home and raped a woman more than three decades ago.

Coral Springs police spokesman Tyler Reik told news outlets that technology that didn't exist when the crime was committed in August 1983 linked investigators to 60-year-old Timothy Norris. They found him at a West Virginia federal prison where he's serving time for bank robbery.

In March, the rape victim approached police about re-opening the case after she saw social media accounts about another cold case being solved.

Several items were identified and sent to the Broward Sheriff's Crime Lab for processing. Investigators made a match on a sample of her clothing that had Norris' DNA on it.

The South Florida SunSentinel reports officials plan to extradite Norris to Florida.
