PLAYALINDA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Rescue officials say 12-year-old sisters who are conjoined at the head were taken to a hospital after one of them was injured on a Florida beach.
Local news outlets report the girls were playing in the water off Playalinda Beach on Sunday evening when one of the twins hurt her neck.
Brevard County Fire Rescue spokesman Don Walker says both girls were conscious and alert when they were flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando. He says it appears they were just playing in the water when one was injured.
Playalinda Beach is south of the Kennedy Space Center on Florida's Atlantic coast.
Authorities didn't identify the girls. No further details were immediately available.
