Brush fire burns in Florida Everglades in west Broward

A brush fire was burning in the Florida Everglades in west Broward County Monday.

About 17,000 acres were burning about five miles west of U.S. 27 and 1.2 miles north of Interstate 75, Florida Forest Service officials said.

The fire was caused by lightning, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Fire rescue said it has been receiving calls from people living in southern Palm Beach County concerning the smoke.
