A 71-year-old woman was flown to a nearby hospital after she was bitten Sunday by a 10-foot alligator in Southwest Florida.
The incident happened in the city of San Carlos Park in Lee County just before 6 p.m.
Crews said when they arrived in the Shadow Wood Preserve they found the woman with injuries to her extremities from an alligator bite.
She was transported as a trauma alert by helicopter.
The gator was removed from the scene by Florida Fish and Wildlife.
Officials have not released any additional information at this time.
