FROSTPROOF, Fla. (AP) -- Two teenage siblings are dead following a crash while they were driving to their central Florida high school.

In a news release, Polk County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Horstman said 18-year-old Jorge Lara was turning onto a U.S. highway in Frostproof on Friday morning when a pickup truck struck his Jeep Liberty. Lara and his 15-year-old sister Melanie died. Both were students at Frostproof High School.

Horstman says three men in the truck were taken to hospitals and are expected to survive.

She says chaplains and victim advocates from the sheriff's office were at the scene with the teens' family and that the school board planned to send grief counselors to the high school on Friday.

Frostproof is southwest of Orlando.
